Importance of Brand Identity & Staying True to Your Vision | San Francisco Photographer
Owning a business requires many stages of trial and error. Over the past decade, I have learned more than words can do justice. The past several years have been a time of transition, growth and excitement for Kreate Photography. As I have expanded, it became clear that I could no longer “do it all” and had to begin evaluating what I could take off my plate. When I re-branded last year, my goal was to elevate the company’s brand identity through a clean, minimalist and organic elements. I wanted the re-brand to flow with my photography style. I did not want it to be overly feminine or masculine, and as an artist, was committed to making sure the overall vibe left a lasting impression.
My previous logo and “brand” was a simple Etsy font and my photoshop creations. There was not much to it, other than my photographs. I was lacking in that area for a long time. When I decided to completely re-brand the business, I knew it was going to be a journey!
I hired Jacqui Hendricks to do the re-brand and she was an absolute joy to work with. The first phase of the process was taking the time to build a mood board, learn more about what I was attracted to and let it evolve from there. Below you can see my initial mood board in the beginning of the process.

FINAL KREATE BRAND GUIDE
Over time, my designer began to better understand what I was looking for. She added her creative input, and I remained honest with myself about what I wanted - I had to remind myself not to settle unless it all resonated with me. The elements evolved into an incredible finished product and an entirely new + innovative brand identity for my business (official brand guide can be found at the bottom of this post!).
The reason I am sharing more about this process is because it has completely transformed my business, brand and online presence. I cannot stress how important this is and wish I had done it sooner! Feel free to reach out with any questions about the process.
