Yassi + Ayis | Magical China Beach Engagement Session, SF
With all of the rain in California recently, we were lucky to have spectacular weather for this gorgeous and thoughtful engagement session. We began at the San Francisco Art Institute, one of my favorite locations for vintage textures, architecture and sweeping views of the city. From there we headed to China Beach just as the sun began to fall behind the coastal cliffs. This portion of the session was airy, playful and natural. From there, we headed to my secret location in Golden Gate Park for sunset and a more formal, romantic aesthetic with florals by Down Buchanan Road Events + Styling. I was so inspired and so in love with the varying locations and outfit selections. Yassi and Ayis are planning an elegant wedding in October, where they will be surrounded by their loved ones visiting from Greece and Iran.
I asked Yassi about their proposal & wedding day vision; here are some words from the bride to be:
“Ayis and I got engaged on our 5 year anniversary. I was in San Diego visiting my family, and the plan was for us to celebrate our anniversary weekend by driving up the California coast from San Diego back home to San Francisco. Ayis drove all night to come pick me up, and we were headed to Disneyland for the first stop of our trip! After driving (sleeping only 3 hours), he woke up and took my father out for coffee to formally ask his permission to propose. Ayis then took me to my favorite beach, Del Mar, and my entire family followed in a separate car to capture the whole thing on camera! Ayis proposed on the beach later that morning, with my family hiding in the bushes recording the entire thing! I was so surprised! He originally asked me “to be his girlfriend” on a beach in San Diego, so it felt perfect for him to ask me to be his wife on the coast. Afterwards, we all went out to a family brunch before Ayis and I took off on our planned anniversary weekend. We will be celebrating our 7 year anniversary this July, and our wedding will take place the following October. When we imagine our wedding, we picture a weekend full of love, laughter, and light! It will be an intimate gathering of our closest family and friends. We are excited to be surrounded by redwoods, ivy covered walls, and overflowing champagne glasses! Since all of Ayis’s family is from Greece and a lot of mine are from Iran, we expect it to be an international, weeklong affair; full of love, dancing and mountains of food.”
